There will be 6 preliminary shows. Each preliminary showcase will involve 20 acts and will run from May 5, 2011 thru May 21, 2011. Each act will have 8 minutes on stage during the preliminaries, 10 minutes during the semi-finals and 10 minutes during the finals.
At the conclusions of each preliminary showcase, the top 3 acts will be notified and advance to the semi-finals (Sunday May 29, 2011). A total of 18 acts in all will perform at the semi-finals.
From the semi-finals, 12 acts will be notified that night and move on to the finals of “I AM CHICAGO”.
The finals will be held in a venue with a minimum capacity of 600. They will take place between June 17 & 25. They will be hosted by a Chicago radio personality, and will have a special “surprise” guest appearance and/or performance by a national artist. Prominent Chicago music industry people will judge the preliminary rounds. National industry insiders will be the judges for the semi-finals & finals.
Scoring is as follows:
1-25 points for lyrical flow
1-25 points for originality
1-25 points for stage presence
1-25 points for crowd “vibe”
