We caught Prob with a rare break off his multi-city tour w/ Twista. Fresh off a SXSW stage, he wanted to take this time to talk to da Chi to clarify just exactly who he is....Based on this new remix above"Look at me Now", if you don't know him already then you need to get familiar quick homie!
BFM: What side chi/hood you reppin?
PC: I'm repping the northside of Chicago Rogers park and evanston, but I've lived all over the city so Id like to think I just hold it down for Chicagoland in general.
BFM:How did the name Prob Cause come about?
PC:Ive had the name probcause since I was 14 or 15, obviously its short for probable cause. A big reason for the name was that I like to think I "arrest" minds. I liked the wordplay the name allowed as well, people started calling me probable and it stuck.
BFM:How long you been writing/recording/performing and what circumstances in you past made you the dope artist you are today?
PC:I've been making music and performing for about 8 years grinding in the Chicago underground scene. But its only been within the last few months that music became my full-time gig and people started noticing me a little more. I been perfecting my craft for a long time and let a lot of different types of music influence me so I guess that contributes to the "dopeness" of the music I'm creating today.
BFM:Tell us the story of how you linked with Twist'a inprint.
PC:The Twista joints came about through my manager, we wanted to be on a hip-hop tour in addition to our electronic tour dates with Steve Aoki. Fortunately my music has a lot of versatility and we were able to land the spot of lead support for both tours.
BFM:I know you and the label been traveling all over on your tour, so what's the funniest thing you've seen out there on the road?
PC:Haha good question... man lots of crazy things go down, I gotta keep some in the vault, but we were in St. Louis a couple days ago and this chick came up and started talkin to my guy JDM (who does a lot of my production). After a few minutes of talkin she said she wanted to have a baby with him with no strings attached... she just wanted a child from him.... Hahaha! He obviously didn't do it (or I don't think he did lol). That's one of the more tame stories- can't get too deep into the vault...
BFM:Where do you see yourself in this game in 5 years from now?
PC:I just see myself growing a lot as a performer and musician. Things are moving so quickly right now its hard for me to think about 5 days from now let alone 5 years.
BFM:So you just finished this project Spring Cleaning.....so what's next fam?
PC:Man tons of stuff on deck gotta EP dropping in the next month called stirfry, gotta a full length dropping in the fall called the recipe, of course the tour dates with twista and Steve aoki and Im definitely considering making a dubstep mixtape in the near future.
