Queens rapper Nas may not have been invited to the White House like his former rival Jay-Z but his work hasn't gone unnoticed. According to reports, W.E.B Du Bois Institute at Harvard University has started a fellowship in honor of Nas aka Nasir Jones.
The Fellowship will help provide funding for selected students and artists in the Hip Hop Culture. In a statement released to the press Nas was chosen due to his intellectual analysis that helps reflect the urban youth, as well as, conflict, intelligence, confidence and ambition.
In 2012 Hip Hop producer 9TH Wonder became a Harvard University Fellow. He was also involved in the These Are The Breaks project. A project where he found all original samples from some classic hip hop albums including Nas "Illmatic" to archive them in Harvard's library.
