What is going on with these artists lately?
First it was reported that Robin Thicke was being sued over the Summer hit "Blurred Lines". Then, Young Jeezy was accused of using samples for his single "Time". Now in recent news, Nicki Minaj is facing a lawsuit over the song "Starships".
Tanaka Light filed a lawsuit against Minaj saying she used parts of her song "Neu Chicago" for her song "Starships".
The hit record sold over 7 million copies worldwide with more than 145 million views for the video on Youtube.
Light's attorney said the two songs are similar and it's impossible for it to be a coincidence.
So, is Tanaka just now hearing the song? It's been out for two years now!
Seems like a lot of artists are facing lawsuits for misuse of samples. The best thing to do is to just ask or make sure it's not someone else's before usage!
