Although many hip hop artists aren't happy with Kendrick Lamar's verse in Big Sean's "Control" he's not letting any negativity stop him from doing a good cause. Recently he played a principal for a day at Bethel Regional High School in Bethel, Alaska.
Lamar was joined with James Hardon of the Houston Rockets. Their purpose was to congratulate a student on winning the Future Forward Challenge from the Get Schooled Foundation.Other artists like Ne-Yo, Common and executive producer Kevin Liles have contributed to Get Schooled events.
The West Coast rapper kicked a little freestyle for the students and took pictures. He also encouraged them to be leaders.
"If you're a leader now, you're ahead of the game basically, " Lamar said.
Lamar also shared how he always wanted to write and how his teachers pushed him to do it. He said English was his favorite subject.
"In the past rappers like T.I. and Gucci Mane spoke to student about life on the streets and how it's not eh best place to be. Both artists have been arrested since their school appearance.
