Previously, it was Trinidad James who said the South was running hip hop but recently, Alchemist said the West Coast was at the top of the hip hop game.
Recently, during an interview with Vlad TV producer Alchemist reflected on who was at the head of the hip hop game as of today.
"West Coast is--I'd say they're on top right now. I would go out and say that," Alchemist said.
He went on to add some West Coast artists whom he feels is holding LA down like TDE, Odd Future, Problem, Kid Ink and Planet Asia.
"There's like so many levels. I mean, we can go on talking forever, but what my point is I think the West is crushing s**t right now. And a person like Kendrick--the whole TDE thing is like it's putting L.A. back in that place where when we were young growing up. It was like a whole melting pot of different talent on different levels," Alchemist explained.
The East Coast, The West Coast, The Dirty South and The Midwest all have their place in hip hop. It's origins came from New York and that's where it will always come back to. It doesn't matter who's on top it's how long you can stay there.
