BFM: You have been through some things in your life that others could only imagine. How did you use your past experiences to grow into the man that you are today?
LS: My life has been a blessing from God...I had to grow up early and that has alot to do with who I am...I'm the oldest of six kids my mother had, and we got broken up by DCFS when I was 8 years old so since I was 8 I've wanted to be with my family again...we are all older and grown now, but thats a goal of mine, to bring my family back together. My life has given me more than enough writing material and I love that...With this music the best artist have a story to tell...and thats why I'm going to do this forever: I've got to tell my story. I wanna show people you can be what you put you're heart and mind to.
BFM: How did you get into the Rhymesayers Ent deal?
LS:I basically signed a single deal with Rhymesayers in March of '09 after winning a remix contest they held in conjunction with the release of Jake One's album, 'White Van Music'...they gave rappers a chance to take a beat from the album and make an original song...they posted the top seven songs chosen by the RSE staff and Jake One and let the fans vote on the best song, and I won that vote...so I came up here to work on that single and try and just get some fresh air...i love chicago though, dont get it twisted.
BFM: You have a big show coming up at Morseland Cafe on Sept 9th. Explain the theme behind the event, & what we can expect to see that night?
LS: Yeah, I can't wait for the show...Sept. 9th @the morseland 9p doors...My baby brother Vicious is playing as well as twin cities artist Desdamona...three artists, three different styles, its gonna be a great night...That same day i'm releasing on line a new project with K-kruz called 'Change Things'...I will have cds at the show, so come kick it!
BFM: So what's next fam. What else can your fans expect from MC Longshot in the near future?
LS: Next up for me is finishing up my album with TGIK, 'Struggle Music'...it's close to being done, and I'm excited for that to come out...'Live From Gravebomb' vol.2 i'm finishing up....and touring...looking to go out with my good friend Psalm One a bunch next year...I'm just starting to work on an EP with the Soul Tools fam up here in the twin cities...shows and albums, thats all I'm about!!
