Why Shawty Lo's Reality Show "All My Babies Mama's" Was Cancelled

 

 

 

Last year it was announced that rapper Shawty Lo's reality show "All My Babies Mama's" would be airing on Oxygen network in 2013. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after 40,000 people signed the online petition to cancel the show.

 

Why was the show cancelled? Because for some black viewers the show is insulting and degrading towards the African American culture. The Parents Television Council called the show "grotesquely irresponsible and exploitative. Sabrina Lamb, the woman who started the petition said she didn't start the petition because of the negative stereotypes but also to protect the 11 children set to be featured on the show.

 

Shows like Basketball Wives and Love & Basketball paved the way for shows like "All My Babies Mama's". Some blacks are tired of their people being portrayed in a negative light. The problem is those who sign up for these shows aren't concerned about how they are portrayed. All they see is money. So, the question is how much selling your soul worth?
