What Did Talib Kweli Say About Kanye West Lyrical Skills?

In a recent interview on Vlad TV with Talib Kweli, the conscious rapper spoke about how Kanye West made his breakthrough on the hip hop scene. He also discussed the Chicago rapper's lyrical skills.

Kweli said while West was shopping his demo no one was taking him seriously.

"He wanted to be on Rawkus and Rawkus was like, no, we want his beats," Kweli explained.

The "Get By" emcee reflected on how West became apart of Roc-A-Fella but they wasn't even interested in his rapping skills.

"Everybody was trying to figure out a way to get Kanye to give up his beats, without wanting to hear him rap. Even Roc-A-Fella, at the time," Kweli added.

The most interested part of the interview was when he said West was always testing his raps on anyone on the tour bus. He said he still does that to this day.

"That's how he makes his albums", Kweli said.
