Common Calls For "Peace Summit" With Fellow Rappers




Recently, Chicago rapper Common came to his hometown and gave a speech during the Chicago Music Summit last Friday. The day before the event 13 people were shot in Englewood area. One of the victims was a three year old boy who was shot in the face.

During the speech Common said he feel that this generation of rappers are adding fuel to fire of gang violence and he called for a peace summit with Chicago rapper Chief Keef and other fellow rappers.

Common also said fans of young rappers who rap about violence are influenced by their lyrics and take them the wrong way.

The rapper/actor also said the key to ending the cycle of violence is by providing more educational programs and other initiatives. He also suggested rappers help with those programs.
