Remember Dee from the late 70's sitcom "What's Happening"? Recently, the child star who is known for the catch phrase "Oooh, I'm gonna tell momma" did an interview where she discussed her health, career, reality television and her love for animals.

According to Hello Beautiful, Danielle Spencer aka Dee told Black Web. com that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer a month ago.

Spencer says she is receiving the best treatment and she is planning on having surgery.

"I”m trying to get as many opinions as possible but it does look that that is what I’m going to do. Hopefully after that there won’t be any chemotherapy or radiation. With everything that I’ve been through with the spinal cord injury (Spencer was in a car accident in 1977, during the show. Symptoms of spinal cord injury showed up 26 years later, eventually leaving her near-paralysis for a time) I know God is not going to give me another affliction. So I was completely shocked when the doctors told me,” Spencer explained.

While many are wondering where the 49-year-old has been she decided to leave the entertainment industry to pursue her education at Tuskegee University where she completed a degree in veterinary science and eventually graduated and became a vet.

Spencer expressed her love for animals saying she wish there were more programs on television that represents animal right's.

Is there a reality show in the making for Danielle Spencer ? Well, she may not want the cameras evading in her personal life she did say that she would love to be part of a reality show focusing on animal rights and care.

"I’m so glad there is Animal Planet now,” Spencer said.

We are glad to see Dee is getting the best treatment and we wish nothing but the best of luck with he surgery!
