Yisir Oliver filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court against the singer saying she began working for Carey in March 2007 where she worked 16-hour days. She said she cleaned her living room, packed suitcases and attended to her personal needs. She said she also answered phones, did grocery shopping and cared for her family and friends.
According to Oliver's lawyer, Matthew Blit, his client has put her family needs on hold to attend to Mariah and her needs.
“My client is a very hardworking woman who treated Mariah and her family like her own, working all hours of the day and night. Even celebrities are required to abide by the law.”
Oliver is suing for an significant amount but the amount has not been revealed. The suit also states that the 49-year-old is entitled to time-and-a-half after working over 40 hours a week.
