Queens, NY native Grizzy Hendrix is somewhat of an anomaly in the Hip-Hop realm. With his face paint and jarring music videos and overall content, at a quick glance, some rap insiders might write him off as a gimmick, but upon further listen, it is clear that the aesthetics are merely a tool to draw listeners in to a much deeper show of skill, talent and message. So much so, that within the past year, the newcomer has caught the attention of some of Hip-Hop’s elite and he is currently in talks for a major announcement in the near future.
Today, Grizzy Hendrix returns with the racially charged video for “I Hate Black Ni**gas.” The title, as well as some of the videos imagery, which contains KKK symbolism, nooses and other paraphernalia associated with historic. Rightfully so, many listeners of all of races would be taken aback by such content. So much so that the clip has already started a stir of conversations on social media. But by including in the intro, the classic “Black People vs. Ni**gas” bit by comedian Chris Rock, a deeper listen to the lyrics show that Grizzy is actually taking a portion of Black America to task and demanding self-respect and responsibility, no matter how vulgar and boisterous his tone. So before you hit play, please prepare your mind to focus more so on the message, as opposed to the image.
