Hosted by comedian Mike Epps this year's BET Hip Hop Awards was a special occasion for hip hop artists and the fans. A tribute was performed in honor of the late music producer Chris Lightly.
Rakim was presented with the "I Am Hip Hop Award" but the best part of the evening was The Cypher. Legends like the west coast family including Snoop, DJ Quik, E-40, Xzibit and Kurupt kicked off some freestyle but the best cypher award goes to Ruff Ryders.
Eve, Cassidy and DMX went gully on the invisible mic. Other surprises were Talib Kweli and Mystikal who signed with Cash Money instead of 50 Cent's G-Unit.
