Alexandra Shipp Set To Play Aaliyah In Biopic Film

Ever since Disney star Zendaya Coleman decided she no longer wanted to play the late R&B singer Aaliyah many were wondering who would they get to replace her.

Well, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp will be playing Aaliyah in the new biopic film. Shipp is known for playing on Nickelodeon's "House of Anibus". She will also be in Nick Cannon's upcoming film "Drumline 2: A New Beat".

So why did Coleman back out of the film? The reasons for Coleman's departure is disclosed but it could be because of the controversy surrounding the color of her skin. 

Looking at the photo Alexandra does resemble the "4 Page Letter" singer but can she pull it off?

What ever the case may be it's no different than Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone!
