Advertisers Start Petition To Cancel "Sorority Sisters"

On Monday, December 16th Mona Scott-Young introduced a new reality show called "Sorority Sisters" to VH1. This is the latest project from the "Love & Hip Hop" series producer and so far it's not looking good. The show is ratchet, according to TVone Commentator Roland Martin.

Unfortunately, due to bad reviews and constant criticism of the show advertisers have already pulled out and has started an online petition to cancel the show.

Many feel that "Sorority Sisters" which features sorority's Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho is just another show that depicts black women in a negative light. Due to negative reviews and viewers saying they will not support the show, some companies like Hallmark and Carmax have cut the ties with the show.

The petition was started on MoveOn.org. They only need 75,000 signatures and have already gathered 68,000.

 The petition is titled “End: Mona Scott-Young’s “Sorority Sisters” Show,” and it reads: 

“Stop the spread of ignorance and stereotyping of our beloved Black Greek letter organizations. Our founders amongst EVERY organization worked extremely hard to allow us to unite and flourish not only on college campuses, but as a people well beyond our college days, and Mona Scott-Young now threatens to demolish those aims and goals we all abide by.”

What is Mona going to do now? Will the show be cancelled?
