Last season on the drama series "Scandal" the character Harrison Wells played by Columbus Short suddenly died. Was it apart of the script or was it a sudden move?

Recently, Short did an interview on "Access Hollywood" where he opened up about his personal and professional life.

Short revealed that he struggled with drug substance and alcohol.

“I’ll be candid, I was struggling with drugs,” Short admitted. “I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life."

“I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then,” Short added.

The "Stomp The Yard" actor also thanked his co-stars, as well as, the creator of "Scandal" Shonda Rhimes for helping him while he struggle with his addictions on the show.

“And if we’re going to be fully transparent, they protected me and they held me down,” said Short. And that was one of the real reasons – they just wanted me to get my stuff together.”

Short is now living in Atlanta. He said being there is great and it's life changing.
